Let’s Talk Matcha

Anyone that knows me, knows I LOVE coffee.

It became a habit to get my day started, juggling schools runs, sports events, playdates and working international time zones, coffee was a must!!!

But, just like that…I made the switch to Matcha. And I’m OBSESSED!!!

After being locked in our homes during the pandemic, for what felt like a life time, it gave us all chance to focus on our health and wellness. Being a busy working mom of two, I found it hard to juggle everything and fill my own cup. Coffee was always my savior but not necessarily good for my health. Giving up seemed impossible! Matcha, a type of green tea, has become increasingly popular as a healthier alternative to coffee. And here are some reasons why;

  • Less caffeine: While match does contain caffeine, it has significantly less than coffee. This means you can get an energy boost without the jitters or crash that can come with coffee.

  • Boosts brain function: Matcha contains caffeine and L-theanine, which work together to improve brain function. This combination can improve mood, increase alertness, and enhance cognitive performance.

  • Steady energy: The caffeine in matcha is absorbed more slowly by the body, which means you get a longer-lasting, steadier boost of energy. This can help you avoid the mid-morning or mid-afternoon slump.

  • High in antioxidants: Matcha is high in antioxidants, including catechizes, which have been linked to numerous health benefits such as reducing the risk of heart disease and cancer. It also contains vitamins and minerals that are essential for maintaining a healthy immune system. Including vitamins A, C, E and K, as well as calcium, potassium and iron.

  • Aids in weight loss: Matcha is low in calories and high in fiber. It also contains a unique compound called EGCG, which has been shown to boost metaled promote fat burning.

  • Better for that perfect smile: Coffee can stain your teeth, but matcha has been shown to actually help prevent cavities and improve oral health.

  • Promotes relaxation: The L-theanine in matcha has a calming effect on the mind and body, promoting relation and reducing stress levels. (I must need more matcha for this to kick in!)

With all that being said, it’s important to remember that everyone's body is different, and what works for one person may not work for another. Join me in making the switch! You can do it!
